Seven Sisters Australian Heirloom Quilts

On August 29, 2003 at about 9:30 Lorraine Moran checked in a suitcase containing four heirloom quilts. Her flight left from the Virgin Blue Sydney terminal. She was taking these quilts to be part of the Australian Patchwork and Quilting I Love Quilts Tour to Brisbane. Tragically, the suitcase never arrived at its destination.Three of the four quilts were all hand pieced and hand quilted. They had been lovingly made especially for Lorraine's daughters.

Thousand PyramidsThe Seven Sisters, above, was completed in 1995. It is double-bed sized in a blue and white combination. The white background is a quilter's muslin. The Thousand Pyramids quilt, right, was completed in 1981. It is a double-bed sized scrappy quilt. Whirly Gig, below, is double-bed size in dusty pastels. It was completed in 2002. The fourth quilt, Triangles, not shown, is a 1991, double bed sized, colorful scrappy quilt with a Prairie Point edging. Also in the suitcase was a hand-embroidered, woolen rug which was Lorraine's current project. The rug featured hydrangeas and leaves.

Whirly GigIf there is anyway you can help Lorraine retrieve these quilts, please email her at lmoran@expresspublications.com.au.
