Woven Verdure
Michele Hill of Adelaide, South Australia, needs help recovering her original quilt, Woven Verdure. This 62" by 71" floral quilt was inspired by a William Morris, circa 1880 rug. It has a deep, bottle-green background with appliqued, primary colors. It is machine pieced, machine appliqued and machine quilted. Michele made the quilt in 2001 and she included the story of the quilt as well as her name and address on the label which is hand appliqued to the back of the quilt.
This award winning quilt had been at Pride Publishing to be photographed for the front cover of the Down Under Quilts (http://www.downunderquilts.com.au) magazine, Issue No. 62.
The quilt was last seen in Sydney on July 2, 2002 when the publisher sent it back to Michele using registered mail. A formal complaint is being processed, but the quilt has not been found yet. One person from the Austrailian post wondered if it had accidentally been sent to South America instead of South Australia since they both have the same initials, "SA." It is unknown, however, if those initials were used on the label.
If you know anything about this missing quilt, please contact Michele at michele.hill@bigpond.com.
